10 Travel Essentials

I just finished packing for my trip to Denver and Philadelphia and wanted to share my top ten travel essentials with you! I am going to Denver to visit my brother and then Philadephia for a business trip. I previously wrote a blog post about my packing tips and today I will be focusing on the things I HAVE TO bring on my trips. Let’s begin!

When I pack, I like to group things by function. One bag for makeup, one bag for toiletries, one bag for electronic cords, and one bag for jewelry. It not only saves space but also keeps me organized. My jewelry travel case by Vlando is the cutest pink color and fits into the cracks of my carry-on. This case might be small, but it includes a mirror, two closing compartments on each side, a row of ring rolls, and extra space for other knick knacks. I like to store my chokers in the pouch in the lid by folding them in half. My necklaces and bracelets go in the two side compartments, rings go in the ring rolls, and earrings in the extra space. Storing my jewelry in this case when I travel protects my pieces and also keeps them from getting tangled. Vlando has a variety of jewelry travel cases, some bigger some smaller, so definitely check them out! Since this is one of my top travel essentials, I will be doing a giveaway on my Facebook Page soon! Like and follow to find out when the giveaway will be!

Since I like to group by function, I also use packing cubes ato stay organized. They also save a lot of space because when you zip them up, it pushes all the excess air out, leaving you with a compressed cube. If you live under a rock and don’t know what packing cubes are, check them out here, here, and here.

I don’t know what I would do without expandable luggage, probably because I always shop on my trips (oops). On the way there, I will make sure everything fits in my luggage without me having to expand it. One the way back, I will usually have to expand it so I can bring back the goodies. The two pieces I use are the Calpak Marble carry-on and the Longchamp duffel bag.

Once you are all packed, it’s time to go to the airport! I always travel in comfy clothes, nothing too tight and restricting, and a jacket because it tends to get cold in the flight.

If you have seen my previous travel diaries, the Longchamp backpack is old news. Since I will be hiking in Colorado, this backpack will hold the rest of my travel essentials (numbers 6-10).

I will usually bring a variety of camera equipment on my trips because I like to document my travels. On this trip, I will be bringing a small subset of my camera family because it’s not the easiest to hike with a DSLR, GoPro, and Polaroid camera. For those who want to take photos without asking strangers to take them for you, I recommend checking out this phone tripod.

This is the one thing I cannot travel without, even if I’m just going to be out and about for one day. Photo-taking uses up a lot of battery life, so definitely bring a portable charger when you are traveling.

I have to admit, I am not the cleanest when I eat. Since I don’t do laundry until after the trip, I like to spot clean right when I make a mess. This makes doing your laundry a lot easier when you get home!

I like to bring an empty water bottle to the airport and then fill it up after security. My skin gets really dry on flights, so I have to hydrate! I will also need this when I go hiking in the Rocky Mountains.

And I saved the best for last. My two favorite travel snacks are the Godiva chocolate pearls and Airheads xtremes bites!

That wraps up my ten travel essentials! I hope this post helped you out : ) What are some of your travel essentials? Leave them in the comments below. Remember to stay on the lookout for the giveaway on my Facebook page! Happy travels and thank you for stopping by!

Thank you Vlando for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

I love all the little compartments in the jewelry box – so useful! And I’m always so intrigued by packing cubes, but I haven’t gotten around to trying them out myself! Maybe I’ll get some for Iceland haha.
