Williamsburg is a neighborhood in Brooklyn and is easily accessible from Manhattan via the L train. It is known for its hipster vibes, so my friend Tennley and I spent a day there to explore the neighborhood. I have been there a few times before for Smorgasburg, but never an entire day of exploring. If you are in New York City, I highly recommend getting out of Manhattan, even if it’s just to see the view of Manhattan from across the river. All you have to do is get on the L train and get off at Bedford Avenue, which is the first stop in Brooklyn.
There are a lot of little boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and diners in Williamsburg. Five Leaves and Sunday in Brooklyn are probably the two most-Instagrammed brunch places there. Peter Pan Donut & Pastry Shop is located near McCarren Park, and the donuts there are AMAZING! The apple pie donut was so delicious!! Oh, and Crif Dogs has a location in Williamsburg!
Aside from delicious food, there is also a lot of art and culture in Williamsburg. Artists & Fleas is a local art, design, fashion, and vintage market. There are a LOT of vendors there and we spent a good two hours there. I love the world map they have at the entrance because there are pins from all over the world! Many of these vendors are on Etsy as well, so I try to get their business cards if I like their work.
Now back to food. Mast Brothers is a small chocolate factory and store. It makes chocolate in-house and has many flavors of chocolates – goat milk, smoke, sea salt, and more. Their packaging is also super cute! If you can catch a factory tour during the day, definitely do it!
Finally, you can see the Manhattan skyline from Williamsburg. The view of the Manhattan Bridge is beautiful and great for photos. If you walk north from the ferry station to where the rocks are, you can get amazing photos with the Empire State Building in the background. You can also take the ferry back to Manhattan if you want to experience that. Make sure to take lots of photos!
I paired my striped off-the-shoulder top with some white jeans and my favorite embellished slip-ons. Even though they are embellished, the color is very neutral and also goes with my bag. I added a final touch with my new favorite necklace from Chloe+Isabel. It reminds me of a design by Tiffany, but for a fraction of the price and really nicely made.
There are a lot more things to do in Williamsburg, like Smorgasburg during the summer and picnics in the park. I will definitely be spending more weekends exploring the little shops! I am actually thinking about moving there to experience a different part of New York City – we shall see! I hope you enjoyed my adventures in Williamsburg and thank you for stopping by : )
