Colorado Travel Diary

In late June, I visited my brother in Colorado and we went on a road trip to the Rocky Mountains National Park! The three main destinations were Deer Mountain, Bear Lake, and Loch Vale. We wanted to see both mountains and lakes, so that’s why we decided on those destinations. And you know what? We were over 10,000 feet above sea level on both days!! It was so nice to escape the busy city to a place without cellphone service (Instastorying was a struggle but that’s okay). While I am not the most athletic person (crazy to think that I used to do track in high school haha), I love walking and hiking, so this trip was the perfect opportunity for that. This blog post is not a guide to the Rocky Mountains because I am not a hiking expert, it is just me documenting my trip!

On day one, we hiked Deer Mountain because we wanted to see the mountain view from over 10k feet above sea level. Shout out to my little brother Steven for driving during our road trip! I brought my Canon t6i camera body with the 24mm lenses to take photos, and my GoPro Hero 4 for random footage. We actually got lost on the way to the top and had to go through some pretty dangerous climbs, but we made it! The view from the top was amazing and no photo will ever be able to capture it. It was very smart of us to bring snacks (gushers and oreos) because I felt like a CHAMP eating them at the top.

On day two, we started at Bear Lake, made our way to the falls, and finally Loch Vale! Yes, there was snow in June, I could not believe it. It was pretty chilly in the morning, so I wore a long sleeve with my hot pink rain jacket. However, as we hiked and the sun came out, I got so sweaty and had to walk around in just my sports bra (it really bothered my brother but oh well). On the way to Loch Vale, we passed by creeks, water falls, and a lot of different views. It was really helpful that this trail had signs, or else we probably would have gotten lost like the previous day haha. When we reached Loch Vale, I was pretty out of breathe, but the view was breath-taking (see what I did there lol). I felt like I was in a different world when my brother and I were just sitting there eating our snacks and soaking it all in.

At the end of the trip, my Nike Roshe sneakers were pretty beat up, which is why I ended up purchasing this pair (also sold here) to replace them. My trusty Longchamp backpack did me well on this trip, and so did my Hello Mojo sunglasses! You can get 20% off your order on Hello Mojo with code ‘KIMMOJO‘.

I had a great time with my brother and will be visiting him again! Hopefully I will be doing more hikes and nature-y things in the near future, because I really enjoyed this trip : ) Thank you so much for stopping by!

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun – the views are all so gorgeous! Lmao at your brother getting annoyed with you wearing a sports bra hahaha. I went hiking with my Roshes last summer and they got so beat up that I had to toss them 🙁
