First snowfall in New York City was last Saturday, and it has snowed a few more times since, which is why I am coming at you with some cozy Christmas weekend ideas to combat the freezing weather.
There is something about staying in all day that makes you feel kind of lazy, so it is important for me to still get ready for the day. I am not really the type of person to stay in pajamas all day long, so I will change into what I call “lounge clothes”. Shout out to my college roommate who introduced me this idea and changed me forever. Basically, pajamas are clothes I sleep in, and lounge clothes are clothes I lounge around in when I am home but not sleeping. I’d say the biggest difference is that my lounge clothes are cuter than my pajamas! My plaid shorts and red top are both from Victoria’s Secret. The sparkly letters really spruce up any comfy look. And finally, I slid into my slipper booties with pom poms! I got mine last year, and the brand has so many new options this year. They keep my feet warm and are just so cute to wear around.
With the shortened hours due to daylight savings, I have been loving staying in with friends to watch our favorite Christmas movies. My favorite will always be ‘Home Alone’ and will never get sick of watching it! What is your favorite Christmas movie? I would love to get some inspiration 🤗 I have also been making my peppermint hot chocolate loads and have the recipe for you below.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate (one serving)1/2 cup milk of your choice
- 1 cup hot chocolate
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Peppermint candy (optional)
I like to use a hot chocolate k-cup with my Keurig, and almond milk for the milk portion. It helps if you warm up your milk by the way! All you have to do is pour the warm milk into your hot chocolate, and then add in the peppermint extract. You’re done! If you want to go the extra mile, top it with some whipped cream and peppermint candy bits. You can even add a candy cane as a mixer – so many options!
I have also been loving these Skinny Pop popcorn – white cheddar is my favorite. They are only 43 calories per cup and are so delicious! I will be honest, I never only eat one cup. My friend and I finished the entire bag in one sitting (oops). I also really like the lightly sweetened flavor, but for some reason those are harder to come by in my area. You can get Skinny Pop popcorn at most Duane Reades in the city, or any of the stores like CVS. Of course, we had to have some festive cookies.
