Welcome to day 10 of #12DaysOfKimber!

The holidays are right around the corner, and you know that because my apartment smells like gingerbread cookies!

Believe it or not, I never really celebrated Christmas until college. Growing up, I went to an international school that was in the public school system in Taiwan (kind of a weird situation, I know). We followed the national holiday schedule, which did not include Christmas. Since winter break started in mid-January, my version of Christmas break was Chinese New Years break. I would always make treats with my grandma, and one of the things we loved to make was fried sweet rice cake. I would usually make a mess and my grandma would nag at me, in the nicest possible way, to tell me to not make a mess haha. It was always so much fun and the best part was having the entire family eat the treats we made. Sharing is caring! Baking during the holidays is so nostalgic for me, and I am so thankful to have friends to share this experience with in my home away from home. It doesn’t matter what holiday it is, because the time you spend baking together is what matters the most.

To kick off the holiday festivities, my friend and I baked some delicious gingerbread cookies! I live in a tiny studio in New York City, so there isn’t ton of space to store all the ingredients for different baking recipes, so we decided to use a box mix and focus our energy on decorating. I have to admit, even though we spent the majority of our time decorating, we were not the best at it, but it’s the effort that counts right? They seriously tasted soo good! I was excited to wear my new Christmas sweater that I got at Primark – it has a pug on it!! Since Primark is not easily accessible, I linked some cute dog Christmas sweaters below. I also wore my polka dot apron for the first time, and am so happy to finally have a cute one to wear in my tiny kitchen!

Whether you’re baking, cooking, or just decorating with friends, have an amazing time because it’s the most wonderful time of the year! I am currently in my Victoria’s Secret plaid pajamas and J Crew moccasin slippers in vintage champagne, writing this blog post, and eating some leftover gingerbread cookies. Yummmm. Do you like to bake during the holidays too? Let me know in the comments below what you like to make!
