April showers bring May flowers, but where are the flowers? 💐 It’s still pretty gloomy in New York City (with the occasional sunny day), but I was able to travel to THREE places this month! Crazy! I went to Atlantic City at the beginning of the month, then Ottawa, and Harrisburg/Hershey. I am still sorting through my photos from the Ottawa trip, and will do a travel diary soon! If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I spent my Memorial Day weekend at Hershey Park, which was so much fun 😍 Now onto my favs!
Ebates – Let’s start off with the most boring one of all, ebates. I have talked about ebates before, but it’s basically a way to earn money while online shopping! Okay, not earn money, but you get my point. If you use a credit card to online shop, you probably get cash back. By using ebates, you get EVEN MORE cash back! I installed the Google Chrome plug-in on my laptop and if a store is linked with ebates, I click that I want to get cash back, and everything else is automatic! They send you a check four times a year and it’s like getting paid! I definitely recommend signing up 😄 ps. Nasty Gal has 40% off with code GIMME40 and 4% cash back with ebates now!
A Guide to Elegance – I have had this book for a while but only used it as decoration. I recently read the book and it’s actually really helpful. The author Genevieve Antoine Dariaux talks about finding your personal style and the basic pieces to have in your wardrobe. It’s not only a coffee table book! ☕️ 📚
Steamer – I have had this for almost one year and it has never failed me. When I was traveling a lot for work, I always brought this with me in my carry-on (because I do not know how to use the irons at hotels). There are smaller ones out there for traveling, but this does not take up that much space, so I don’t mind bringing it along. I used it to steam my yellow gingham dress when I went to Ottawa (see outfit blog post here) and I use it frequently at home. One thing to note is that DO NOT use a plastic hanger with this!! I learned it the hard way haha.
Rocksbox – Rocksbox is a jewelry membership service and you get a different set of jewelry every month. I like services like this because you don’t have to purchase a massive amount of jewelry and you also get to try out different brands. If you do want to purchase something from your set, you can apply $21 every month towards a purchase, or you don’t have to buy at all. If you want to see what was in my set this month, visit my shop page! I have one FREE month for you when you use the code kimberrryyyxoxo and I hope to give it a try!
amika Mini Dryer – Since I traveled a decent amount this month, I had to bring this baby around. I like to minimize the amount of times I wash my hair when I travel because I prefer washing my hair in my own shower. I will usually wash it right before I leave or wash it the first night of traveling (for short trips). This little one is MIGHTY! I was seriously so amazed when I first tried it out in March, because it is basically a really light and compact blow dryer.
amika Dry Shampoo – Another way I minimize the number of times I wash my hair when I travel is this magical product. It not only smells like flowers, but it also does wonders to my hair. Some people use this product to add volume, but I already have a lot of volume, so I use it to suck the grease up. I usually wash my hair every other day because it gets greasy, but when I use this dry shampoo, I don’t have to wash my hair for four days!!
amika Bust Your Brass Shampoo and Conditioner – I was very lucky to attend a hair styling event at amika styleblow this month and received some amazing new launches at the event. My hair is an ashy blonde at the ends and the Bust Your Brass shampoo and conditioner prevents it from getting brassy. This is what I have been using to wash my hair since I received them, and it definitely makes a difference. I noticed that my hair is less brassy within TWO washes! If your dyed hair is turning brassy or yellow, I recommend trying this out to keep your hair light and bright! 💁
amika Curl Icon Base Kit – This is another product I received after the event (not available yet, but here is the same base with other attachments). I previously blogged about another curling iron by amika and this is the 2.0 version! I like that it is a copper color and that it is very easy to travel with because I can just detach the wand and put it in a pouch. I have the 1 inch tourmaline-infused ceramic barrel and it curls my hair really well. It also comes with a heat-resistant glove for those of you who are still learning how to curl your hair : ) I also received three other wands but have not tried them out yet. I will definitely share my thoughts on them when I do!
Sassy Lips – Um just look at them. They are beautiful.💄 I did receive these as samples, but man they are so cool. These lipsticks change color depending on your body temperature! It reminds me of the mood rings I had when I was growing up (anyone remember those? Please comment below!). There are a variety of shades but my favorite one is the yellow one because it gives a nice golden glow to my lips!
Too Cool For School CC Cream – It is not news that I love this brand. Since it is sometimes warm and almost always humid in New York City now, I have been loving this CC cream! The CC cream applies really well and blends into my skin. This product definitely works better for people who have paler skin because it only comes in one shade, but it works really well for me! I also love that this product lasts all day and does not feel heavy on my skin.
And that wraps up my May favorites! I can’t wait for it to get warmer in the city so I can share all the summer fun with you! Thank you for stopping by : )
