Since moving to New York City last year, I’ve been wanting to do a Philadelphia day trip, and I finally crossed it off the list this month! It was below freezing that weekend, so I bundled up and braved the cold to see the beautiful city of Philadelphia.
First stop – brunch at Green Eggs Cafe. And then Square One Coffee because it was a 45-minute wait. We ordered the red velvet pancake and steak & eggs for brunch, and wow those portions are HUGE! We shared both dishes so we could get a bit of sweet and a bit of savory, and it was a LOT of food. The red velvet pancakes are a must though, they were fluffy and just the good amount of sweetness (but it was just too big).
Philly is an old city, so any small street is a good for photos! We snapped some photos across from Green Eggs Cafe and they turned out super cute. I love the colors of the doors with the brick : )
Next was shopping on Walnut Street. It reminded me of Newbury Street in Boston actually! And when our taste buds needed a little something, we went to Craftsman Row! It was the weekend before St. Patty’s Day, so we had to get a festive milkshake (we shared it because we were still full from brunch).
And out into the cold we go! Jen and I googled “Instagrammable places in Philadelphia” the night before, and came across Elfreth’s Alley. It even has it’s own Instagram account! So of course, we went there to take some photos. It was freeeezing cold though, so we had to be quick. We passed by Independence Hall and Liberty Bell on the way there, but it looked like it was under renovation so we couldn’t go in to check them out.
The last stop before dinner was a store called United by Blue. To be honest, we went inside this store because we wanted to warm up a bit before heading to dinner, but it was such a cute store! Their corporate office is right above the store and everything there is very well made.
To end the day, we had some heart-warming noodle soup in Chinatown and filled our bellies with matcha goodness at A La Mousse. What’s a day without dessert?
I hope you enjoyed coming along with me on my day trip to Philly. As you can tell, eating is a big part of my life and I love trying out new restaurants and cafes! Thank you for stopping by : )
